There is no lonelier place than a losing dressing room which has been ours for the past 2 weeks.  We were all smiles on the weekend though after a good solid 38-6 win over Ipswich on the weekend.

Defence was the theme for us all week after leaking 100 points in our previous 2 matches against Souths and Tweed. It was very satisfying to see that the Seagulls players were committed in that area only limiting Ipswich to a late try.

We had a near perfect first half of football completing 16 from 17 sets allowing us to maintain pressure on Ipswich. Some loose ball handling crept in to the second half, however we had already established a commanding lead by that stage.

Jon Grieve played well again proving a handful for the Ipswich  defence and he was well supported by Jack Afamasaga who was voted the players player. Sam Te’o and Vinny Silulu were the main beneficiaries of our strong defence and field position, each bagging two tries.

This competition is wide open with competition favourites Souths Logan being beaten by an in-form Tweed Heads. I said last week that Tweed were a better side than where they sit on the ladder and they proved that to be the case on the weekend against Souths. To me Norths still look to be the team to beat benefitting greatly from the Broncos with Ashton Sims and Scott Anderson turning out for the Devils last weekend.

Both our lower grade teams won on the weekend making it a good day all round for the club. Our Fogs A-Grade team sit 5th on the ladder at the moment equal on points with Easts and 1 point behind Souths.

Our Colts team after the victory over Ipswich are in a three way battle for 4th spot being level on points with Ipswich and Sunshine Coast. Souths are only 2 points in front of them. The lower grades are a very tightly contested competition and every win is vital for the Seagulls.

This weekend we are up against the Mackay Cutters who will be looking for a win after their loss to the Pride on the weekend.
