Often this time of year we are talking about the big name stars joining the club on the field but this coming season at the Seagulls the stars are lining up off the field as well in the form of coaches and support staff. Recently the club went through a major restructure which will see a completely new off field team to take the club forward.
Paul Green has wasted little time since his appointment as Head Coach to bring together a strong off field team that he hopes will bring success to the bayside. Key appointments include former NRL, Origin and Tests players, Chris McKenna (Assistant Coach) and Andrew Gee (Football Manager) who will assist Paul in building a strong winning culture. All three have plenty of big time experience having tasted success at many levels and he hopes this will rub off on the players. Former Wynnum Manly Player, Danny Grimley will also lend his support as a skills coach.
Paul has identified some key areas of improvement and one major focus will be our strength & conditioning program. Paul is working on a professional team to revamp our S&C program and prepare our players to perform at their peak. Other changes include new coaching teams for both FOGS A Grade and Colts. Cliff Wanka will coach the FOGS A Grade side assisted by Steve Heymer and Daniel Frame steps up as FOGS Colts coach assisted by Shane Shepherdson.
On the field the nucleus of last year’s team remain with several new players that Paul feels will bring plenty to the table. He is pretty please with the players that have signed so far and we are yet to finalise the roster. Over the coming weeks we will provide our supporters with a comprehensive list of gains and losses and other information about the coming season.
