Jon & Matt Grieve, Shea Moylan, Tim Natusch, Ben Shea, and Mitchell Dodds head the list of new signings that incoming coach Paul Green will hope can turn around the fortunes of the Seagulls. The club has been very selective in its recruitment and feel they have secured the right players in the right positions to improve our chances in 2010.
Premiership winning back rower Jon Grieve was a key signing to fill the shoes of outgoing backrower and Player of the Year, Adam Brideson who is retiring. In a signing coupe the Seagulls were able to add Jon’s brother Matt to the list also. Matt Grieve is a quality centre with a big future after performing well for NYC minor premiers, the Manly Sea Eagles. Shea Moylan is another key signing and will add much need attacking flair to the Seagulls backline. Shea comes across from the Magpies after a strong year at fullback leading to his selection in the City side in 2009.
Another major objective for coach Green was to add some toughness to the Seagulls pack and along with Jon Grieve the Club has been able to secured the services of highly rated prop, Tim Natusch from the Newcastle Knights, Ben Shea (Canterbury) and Mitchell Dodds (Broncos). All three players will add plenty to the Seagulls front row stocks. Add these players to the current roster which includes the likes of Luke Dalziel Don, Darren Bain, Will Scanlan and Aoterangi Herangi and you get an idea of the quality at the Coaches disposal.
The Seagulls are still to finalise the playing roster but already there are clear indications that the club means business in 2010. The current players are very excited about the inclusion of these new players as well as the changes in the football department. The Seagulls kick off their 2010 campaign on Monday the 9th November. It will be a fresh approach and everyone is looking forward to getting on with the job after a disappointing end to the 2009 season.
