The Seagulls Qld Cup side went down 28-14 to the Norths Devils in a country exhibition match to help promote the game in the bush. The Gulls were on the backfoot early in the match as the Devils nippy outside backs ran in 3 early tries. The Gulls bounced back to head into the break trailing 16-10. There were some good parts to our football but also some basic errors that will need to be rectified prior to Rd 1. It was a good hit out against some quality opposition and will give Coach Green a clearer picture as he starts to narrow down team selections for the start of the competition.
The lower grades were also found out on the weekend, both going down to the Norths Devils in trial matched played on Friday Night. The Colts were beaten 28-8 and the A Grade went down32-14. Loose defense and poor handling was evident in both games and is something that both Coaches will highlight to their teams as we lead into the final trial matches.
The final round of trials are this weekend against the Burleigh Bears in all three grades. The Action kicks off with the U16 Academy side playing Sunshine Coast at 2pm with the main game kicking off at 7.30pm. It's a big day of football so get down to BMD Kougari Oval and catch all the action!!
