It is always a surreal feeling when you realise that your season is finally over. During the season you are caught in the continual routine of always looking to next week to start preparing for the upcoming match. When the siren sounds at your last game you quickly come to the realisation that there is no next week.
We were always up against it last weekend against the Northern pride playing them on their home soil. The weather was hot and sticky as you would expect in the tropics this time of the year and the game was consequently much slower than normal and ball handling became a challenge.

THERE'S nothing Pride coach David Maiden enjoys more than watching his team ''play footy''.
Not just take part in a game of rugby league, but really open the throttle and show the full extent of their ability and flair.
But Maiden could not have been happier after watching the Pride survive a game that turned into a dour grind yesterday.
Regardless of how it was achieved, the Pride’s 28-12 win against Wynnum-Manly yesterday left Maiden thrilled, with the club just one win away from a second successive Queensland Cup grand final.

NORTHERN PRIDE (4) v WYNNUM MANLY (5)
Sunday, September 5 @ Barlow Park, 3.30pm * Live on Bay FM 100.3
WYNNUM Manly faces a daunting road trip to Cairns this weekend to keep its premiership dream alive. It is just one of three big games in the opening week of the Intrust Super Cup finals.
Few punters appear to be giving Wynnum Manly much hope in this do-or-die contest. But Wynnum Manly is buoyed by its record against the Pride this year. The Gulls have won both of their regular season games against the Cairns outfit, including an 18-16 win at the Pride’s Barlow Park fortress in round two.

This weekend sees the Seagulls competing in this year’s semi-final series in all three grades. This is a fantastic achievement and credit needs to be given to all the coaches and players for their work so far this year.
The fogs A-Grade play against West’s Panthers and the Colts play against East’s on Saturday at Stockland park at the Sunshine coast. Both games are the curtain raiser for the Intrust Super cup game between Mackay and Sunshine coast.

Slick Devils Ambush Seagulls |
|
Monday, 30 August 2010 |
|
THEY arrived at Bishop Park with a 59-0 scoreline in their back pocket and a top-two finish within their grasp. But little did the Wynnum Manly Seagulls know; they were heading towards an ambush.
After weeks littered with some indifferent performances, Norths Devils showed the challengers they meant business, recording a 30-12 win to finish the regular season with the number two spot.
The afternoon started well for the Devils, who were first on the board through prolific winger Daniel Ogden.
He was in again for the home side only a few minutes later – and his double was enough to see him top the Intrust Super Cup leading try-scorer ladder with 19 to his name this season.

Sundays match against traditional rivals Redcliffe was probably the most satisfying win of the year for us so far. Not because we amassed 59 points for, it was the points scored against that left me pleased with our effort. Not in any of our matches so far this year have we kept a team to zero.
We have had convincing wins but in all of those games at some stage we have been guilty of taking the foot off the accelerator and allowing the opposition some soft tries. That wasn’t the case last Sunday in the annual battle of the Bay.

Ruthless Seagulls Run Riot |
|
Monday, 23 August 2010 |
|
WITH the noise from the packed “Chook Pen” growing louder with every Wynnum Manly try, watching opposition conversion attempts from the in-goal area was not the place to be for the Redcliffe Dolphins.
But the shell-shocked Dolphins spent a considerable amount of time in that part of the ground after conceding a staggering 11 tries in their club record 59-0 loss to the rampant Seagulls.
The Seagulls’ superb performance confirmed their spot in the Intrust Super Cup finals and in the process set the scene for a fascinating showdown with the Norths Devils at Bishop Park next Sunday.
The Devils are now just one more loss away from surrendering second spot – an unthinkable equation for the best part of the season.
