The Seagulls welcomed the Souths Logan Magpies to BMD Kougari Oval on Saturday for Round 1 of the junior statewide competitions.
Harvey Norman U17s were up first in the morning but came up against a tough Souths outfit, going down 40-6.
Cyril Connell Cup then came out firing and finished off a good close game against Souths, 20-12.
The third game of the day was Harvey Norman U19s, who also faced a formidable Magpies team, losing 34-18.
Then the Mal Meninga Cup teams put on an entertaining display of football for those in attendance. The Seagulls hung on to win 30-22.
Both male games went to the Seagulls, and both female games to the Magpies.
Then the two Hostplus Cup squads played off in a trial match consisting of 5 x 20 minute periods. This gave the two coaches a chance to rotate through their full squads after a tough preseason training block.
The Seagulls led 32-12, before drawing 32-32 by the full time whistle.
Plenty of lessons to take from this trial game as we get closer to a new season.
