On Friday 23rd of May, 300 guests made their way to the Bayside Event Centre in Edith St, Wynnum, to attend our annual Sport Lunch.
This year, we held it in collaboration with the Wynnum Manly Juniors rugby league club, in an effort to assist their fundraising and engage the whole Bayside rugby league community.
The star power was on show as Tony Currie and Leisel Jones started us off, led by MC Peter Psaltis.
After lunch, Brisbane Broncos coach Michael Maguire had the room hanging on every word as he reminisced about his coaching career and gave an insight into the Brisbane Broncos at this stage of the NRL season.
The Steven Bradbury performed a 30 minute set that had our guests in stitches, as he led up to the moment that he won Australia’s first ever Winter Olympic Gold Medal.
Across the afternoon a silent auction and a raffle were held to raise funds for both clubs, while the live auction was called by Bartons Motor Groups’ Mark Beitz.
Plenty of money was raised to support junior rugby league on the Bayside and we thank everyone that came along on the day and assisted in the lead up.
A particular mention to Bartons Motor Group and Lipke Motors who were instrumental in the success of the event, as well Jayco Camperland, QLD Cricket, Bulls Masters, Brisbane Broncos and Suncorp Stadium who donated auction prizes to assist our fundraising.
