Three Gulls Named In XXXX Qld Rangers Side

By Seagulls Media

Three Seagulls were last week been named in the XXXX Queensland Rangers team set to take on New South Wales Pioneers later this month.

Tristan Hope, Harlan Collins and Sam Elliott have been selected for the representative side following strong performances in the Seagulls’ BRL A Grade side and at the recent QRL State Championships.

QLD Rangers Coach, and Wynnum Manly Seagulls Academy Manager Glen Dreger says this selection is a real credit to the player’s efforts in both club and representative footy.

“At the carnival, we were looking for consistency, as well as players who we thought could get the job done against a strong NSW team.”

Following 2018 Rangers Captaincy, Hope has gone from strength to strength in the past 12 months, moving to the Seagulls (from Redcliffe Dolphins) and making his Intrust Super Cup debut for the club in their Round 13 victory against Ipswich Jets.

“(Hope) was a fantastic captain for the Rangers last year being named player of the match… He is a very tough and crafty dummy half with a bright future ahead of him”.

While 2019 sees Hope return to the side, Collins and Elliott are in line to make their debuts for the Queensland team.

Dreger says Collins is a solid defensive addition to the Rangers side. “Harlan has been in good form for Wynnum this year… He displayed some really strong ball carrying skills at the State Championships and is a great defender.”

While Elliot’s selection comes from some impressive performances at recent SEQ representative carnivals. “Sam was a standout at the carnival playing a key role in SEQ White’s victory.”

“(Elliot) is an important addition to the team as he is such a dynamic player… He’s a solid defender but is also quite damaging with the ball on the edge.”

Sam Elliott fends off West Brisbane Panther opposition.

The Queensland Rangers team will head into camp at the Gold Coast on June 26 ahead of their clash against NSW on June 30.
