Seagulls Off To Townsville For Round 12

Our Hostplus Cup and Hastings Deering Colts teams will make the trip up north to Townsville tomorrow to face the Blackhawks.

Both coming off a win against Tweed, who were flying high in both competitions, our Seagulls will be looking to continue their good form and climb the ladder.

As our second longest away trip, Townsville always pose a threat and have been particularly strong in the Colts competition for a number of years.

This is an important game for both of our teams at the halfway point of the season.

Seagulls vs PNG Hunters

Round 10 of the Hostplus Cup will see the Papua New Guinea Hunters visit BMD Kougari Oval on Saturday at 3pm. Our Premier Partner, George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals will present this gameday to show their support for the local community.

After causing an upset of the Seagulls last year on our home turf, the Hunters will be confident of repeating that result given the exciting talent that runs through their team.

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls will be looking to kickstart the middle period of the season after coming off the bye last weekend.

The Hunters always pose a physically tough challenge, and will compete until the very end of the game.

Given the Seagulls up and down start to the year, this is a great opportunity to show our supporters how good we can be.

With our Hastings Deering Colts on the bye this weekend, we have invited the Redlands Junior rugby league club to provide two teams for a once in a lifetime pre-game experience.

King Wally Lewis will coach these two Redlands Juniors teams in a practice game before Hostplus Cup kickoff, giving back to his local community and inspiring the next generation of QLD superstars.

Then at halftime, GHM Funerals will offer 3 lucky supporters the chance to walk away from the game with a $100 voucher and a signed ball. All you have to do to be selected is wear your Seagulls supporter gear and look out for our Seagulls mascot as he walks around the ground in the first half!

Gameday Details:
1:45pm – Gates Open
2:30pm – Redlands Juniors coached by Wally Lewis
3pm – Hostplus Cup kick off
3:40pm – GHM Funerals halftime activation

Mitch Cronin Cup Up For Grabs

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls will take on the Souths Logan Magpies this Saturday across two games. At 3pm, our Hostplus Cup teams will do battle for the coveted Mitch Cronin Cup, in remembrance of the former player of both clubs.

Presented by Moreton Island Adventures (MIA), we’re expecting a big gameday crowd for one of our most important games of the year. MIA will also give away a ferry and accommodation prize worth $1700! But you have to be at our game on Saturday to win.

Our BMD Premiership team have had a great season and earned their spot in the semi final this weekend. They play Souths Logan Magpies at Davies Park, West End, 10:30am Sunday. We’re right behind our girls as they take on the undefeated Magpies.

Rivalry Round at Redcliffe

This Sunday, the Seagulls will take 4 teams to Redcliffe for some big matches against the Dolphins.

Our Hostplus Cup match against our biggest rival is the feature broadcast match at 2:10pm. This will be shown live on Kayo Freebies and will also be available for free on QPlus.tv.

Traditionally a close-fought and well-supported match, this is the first time in a few years that this Rivalry Round clash won’t be at BMD Kougari Oval. Although we will host the Dolphins at home on 25 June.

This is an important game against a strong opponent, especially now with their affiliation to the NRL’s Dolphins. It is also a chance for the Seagulls to maintain their excellent start to the season and head into the Easter break on top.

In addition to the Hostplus Cup match, our U16s, U18s and U19s will all take the field earlier in the day.

Our Cyril Connell U16s and Harvey Norman U19s will play the final game of their seasons, as there is no finals football for these competitions.

Our Mal Meninga U18s will come up against the Dolphins, with both sides sitting at the top of their pool and heading for a semi final the following week, likely against each other.

On Saturday, our BMD Premiership team will get the Seagulls underway against Brisbane Tigers at Leo Williams Oval (Carina Juniors). Following a strong win last week, our girls will be ready to repeat the performance and march up the ladder.

This is an exciting weekend of football for the Seagulls before the Easter break, with full details below.

4:50pm – BMD Premiership

Sunday @ Redcliffe Dolphins
10am – U16s Cyril Connell

Iona College to Host Seagulls This Saturday

Iona College, Premier Partner of the BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls, will play host to our Round 2 matches of the Hostplus Cup and BMD Premiership this Saturday afternoon.

In a free event for all, the Seagulls will take on both the Norths Devils and the Ipswich Jets across two games on a great day for the community.

The Seagulls and Iona College have a longstanding relationship, with many Iona students wearing the red and green on the football field. We share common values and strive to be the best we can be, while giving back to our community that supports us.

This day is a celebration of our partnership, but also an event that allows the Bayside community to watch two high quality rugby league matches for free, and to see what Iona College has to offer their students and surrounding community.

In collaboration with Iona, we have produced a commemorative jersey to wear on Saturday that reflects elements of both organisations. Seagulls representatives were invited to Iona College school assembly to show the jersey and present it to Principal Goodwin.

We will have raffle prizes, merchandise, canteen and the travelling ‘Chook Pen’ on the hill. Everyone is welcome!

Colts Face Must-Win Flockbuster at Home This Weekend

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls Hastings Deering Colts will take on the Tweed Seagulls in a home semi final this weekend.

Playing out of BMD Kougari Oval, the minor premiers will take their second chance to try to progress to the preliminary final after going down in a close game to the Central QLD Capras last weekend.

Strike centre Grand Hagai is aiming to make a return to the team after missing the last game through concussion protocols.

The Colts boys have been able to reset and lock their focus onto Saturday vs Tweed.

Seagulls Hunt Ladder Leaders This Sunday

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls will make the trip to Burleigh this Sunday to take on the ladder-leading Bears.

The final round of the regular season is also Turn to Me Round in the Hostplus Cup, an important round that focuses on the importance of mental wellbeing. The round began in 2013 and continues to reinforce the importance of mateship during the off season.

As the Hostplus Cup fan-voted feature match of the round, the teams meet for the first time since Round 1 this season, which resulted in a 26-18 win to Burleigh. Deine Mariner also debuted in this game, scoring an incredible 4 tries.

Up for grabs this week is the Adam Watene Memorial Trophy, in memory of the former Seagulls and Bears player who passed away in 2008.

Burleigh present a tough challenge at home, having won 17 of their past 18 games at Pizzey Park, and also 9 of the past 10 against the Seagulls.

With their season on the line, there is no doubt the Seagulls boys will lift for the occasion.

As Head Coach Adam Brideson is retiring at the end of the season, the Seagulls have an added incentive to finish well.

The Gulls celebrate a try against Souths last weekend.

Due to the congestion on the Hostplus Cup ladder, the Top 8 positions can change significantly this weekend.

The Seagulls will aim to beat Burleigh this Sunday and then enter a finals campaign as the away team.

It all starts in Round 20, with the details of the game below:

Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup To Play For

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls are back at home this weekend to play for the Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup.

Souths Logan Magpies will make the trip to BMD Kougari Oval for the second time this season after winning 24-18 on the Bayside in Round 5.

In the most important game on the Seagulls calendar, the Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup is up for grabs between the Seagulls and the Magpies, the two teams that Mitch represented in the Queensland Cup.

After the recent tragic news of Paul Green’s passing, this game has added emotion due to the impact that Greeny had on the Seagulls as a junior player, premiership coach and mentor.

The Seagulls will pay tribute to both ‘Cro’ and ‘Greeny’ pre-game, to celebrate their significant contribution to the club.

From a football perspective, the Seagulls are in must-win territory after a couple of losses. The boys have trained well this week and are pumped for such an important game at home.

With this being the last regular season home game, we’re expecting a massive crowd to come through the gates of BMD Kougari Oval.

Make sure you get in early to get a good seat and watch our top-of-the-table Hastings Deering Colts at 12pm.

Our platinum partners at Chemist Warehouse Wynnum and Tingalpa will be handing out hundreds of prize packs on the day, and also give someone an opportunity to win $5000 at half time!

The Brisbane Broncos cheerleaders will be pumping up the crowd, and we’ll raffle off a team-signed Broncos jersey to one lucky Gulls fan.

Tickets can be purchased here to save yourself time at the gate on Sunday.
