Colts Face Must-Win Flockbuster at Home This Weekend

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls Hastings Deering Colts will take on the Tweed Seagulls in a home semi final this weekend.

Playing out of BMD Kougari Oval, the minor premiers will take their second chance to try to progress to the preliminary final after going down in a close game to the Central QLD Capras last weekend.

Kick off is 2:10pm on Saturday, with our Colts expecting to draw a number of Seagulls supporters to the Bayside for this must-win clash.

Strike centre Grand Hagai is aiming to make a return to the team after missing the last game through concussion protocols.

While the rest of the team will be better for the loss last week after winning the previous 14 games in a row.

The Colts boys have been able to reset and lock their focus onto Saturday vs Tweed.

Seagulls Hunt Ladder Leaders This Sunday

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls will make the trip to Burleigh this Sunday to take on the ladder-leading Bears.

The final round of the regular season is also Turn to Me Round in the Hostplus Cup, an important round that focuses on the importance of mental wellbeing. The round began in 2013 and continues to reinforce the importance of mateship during the off season.

As the Hostplus Cup fan-voted feature match of the round, the teams meet for the first time since Round 1 this season, which resulted in a 26-18 win to Burleigh. Deine Mariner also debuted in this game, scoring an incredible 4 tries.

Up for grabs this week is the Adam Watene Memorial Trophy, in memory of the former Seagulls and Bears player who passed away in 2008.

Burleigh present a tough challenge at home, having won 17 of their past 18 games at Pizzey Park, and also 9 of the past 10 against the Seagulls.

With their season on the line, there is no doubt the Seagulls boys will lift for the occasion.

As Head Coach Adam Brideson is retiring at the end of the season, the Seagulls have an added incentive to finish well.

The Gulls celebrate a try against Souths last weekend.

Due to the congestion on the Hostplus Cup ladder, the Top 8 positions can change significantly this weekend.

The Seagulls will aim to beat Burleigh this Sunday and then enter a finals campaign as the away team.

It all starts in Round 20, with the details of the game below:

Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup To Play For

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls are back at home this weekend to play for the Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup.

Souths Logan Magpies will make the trip to BMD Kougari Oval for the second time this season after winning 24-18 on the Bayside in Round 5.

In the most important game on the Seagulls calendar, the Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup is up for grabs between the Seagulls and the Magpies, the two teams that Mitch represented in the Queensland Cup.

After the recent tragic news of Paul Green’s passing, this game has added emotion due to the impact that Greeny had on the Seagulls as a junior player, premiership coach and mentor.

The Seagulls will pay tribute to both ‘Cro’ and ‘Greeny’ pre-game, to celebrate their significant contribution to the club.

From a football perspective, the Seagulls are in must-win territory after a couple of losses. The boys have trained well this week and are pumped for such an important game at home.

With this being the last regular season home game, we’re expecting a massive crowd to come through the gates of BMD Kougari Oval.

Make sure you get in early to get a good seat and watch our top-of-the-table Hastings Deering Colts at 12pm.

Our platinum partners at Chemist Warehouse Wynnum and Tingalpa will be handing out hundreds of prize packs on the day, and also give someone an opportunity to win $5000 at half time!

The Brisbane Broncos cheerleaders will be pumping up the crowd, and we’ll raffle off a team-signed Broncos jersey to one lucky Gulls fan.

Tickets can be purchased here to save yourself time at the gate on Sunday.

Seagulls Aim To Get Back On The Winner’s List

This weekend the BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls make the trip up north to Sarina for ‘Activate Queensland’ Country Week.

With games played rurally across the competition, including Thursday Island, the Seagulls will be hoping for a repeat of their last trip to the Mackay region where they beat the Cutters 28-10 in torrential rain.

Both sides will be gunning for a victory after suffering upset losses last weekend, with the Seagulls going down to Pride and the Cutters losing to the Jets.

The Gulls in particular are hoping to maintain their momentum as they head into the finals, knowing that when their best football is played, they belong in the top few teams in the competition.

For the Cutters, a win could see them jump into the top 8 in a jam-packed middle section of the ladder.

The Seagulls are boosted by the return of Max Plath at five-eighth, while James Robinson moves into the starting side and Caius Faatili retains his spot in the 17 after debuting last week in Innisfail.
