Iona’s Partnership With Seagulls

At the BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls, we are lucky to have a great group of sponsors and supporters from the local community.

This Saturday, we will showcase our partnership with Iona College as we take our Round 3 matches to their school playing fields in a free event for the community.

Iona’s connection to the Seagulls goes further than just being a Premier Partner. Over the years, many Iona students have worn the red and green of Wynnum Manly, and we have shared common values among our organisations for decades.

As an all-boys school, Iona College are proudly a strong supporter of our Women’s program at the Seagulls. Supporters will notice the Iona name on the back of jersey’s 4, 1, 7 and 8 for both Women’s teams, to recognise the postcode of the area surrounding the school.

The commemorative jersey being worn by our Hostplus Cup team on Saturday includes the Iona College colours of black and white, and the red and green of Wynnum Manly. The words ‘Kia Kaha’ are also positioned under the number on each jersey, which is an Iona warcry that is used to encourage strength and confidence.

Iona College also has a strong Old Boys association that we will likely see at Davine Oval on Saturday afternoon. This is a great opportunity for parents to see the network and facilities on offer to students at Iona College and we welcome everyone there for this free event.
