Last weekend, our Mal Meninga side travelled to Redcliffe for a Preliminary Final showdown against the Tweed Seagulls.
Tweed came out firing, crossing in the opening minute to take an early 4–0 lead and set the tone. Wynnum responded with determination, working their way back into the contest with Bond Bradley scoring in the 18th minute. Momentum continued to build, with Harrison Bath crossing just before the break, converted by Payton Gifford, to give Wynnum a 10–4 lead at halftime.
Wynnum carried that momentum into the second half, with Bradley grabbing his second try shortly after the restart, again converted by Gifford. Tweed refused to go away, hitting back with two quick tries in the 63rd and 66th minutes to close the gap and keep the pressure on.
But Wynnum had the final say. Bradley completed a standout performance with his third try in the 69th minute, sealing a 22–14 victory and booking their place in the Grand Final.
Our Mal Meninga side now returns to Kayo Stadium this Sunday to face the Townsville Blackhawks in the Grand Final, kicking off at 2:05PM.
