Paynters Seagulls Community Footy kicks off

Our community knows that ‘footy’ means a lot more than just 17 elite players battling it out at the top of their game. The success of the Seagulls rugby league program comes from the development of athletes in our academy, the support of friends and family, and the united contribution of people and resources towards a greater goal.

Our club is built on the strength of partnerships and relationships with fans, players and community organisations that share our values. Before our game against the Capras on Saturday, Seagulls staff and players delivered on those values, hosting the first Paynters Seagulls Community Footy Program clinic.

The Program allows the Gulls and Paynters to provide a unique experience to students and staff through clinics, attendance at at games and involvement in the local Rugby League community. Paynters have a strong investment in sport in South East Queensland through major commercial construction projects. This Program helps both organisations continue to give back to the communities in which they operate.

The clinic was run by Seagulls Academy and Football Operations staff, with direct coaching and instruction from players and coaches in our elite squads. Drills were designed with the flexibility to meet varying student needs and allow parents and school staff to encourage and facilitate participation.

Gulls players were particularly thankful of the opportunity to engage with the school, share their passion for footy and see the smiles on student’s faces.

The pursuit of excellence on the field is not possible without the full strength of the Seagulls club off the field. The club would like to thank Paynters for their support of this program and look forward to continuing to engage Darling Point Special School and other youth in the community with memorable footy experiences.
