This week, Head Coach Adam Brideson named Sam Scarlett as the Captain of the club’s Intrust Super Cup team.
Entering his third year with the Seagulls, the halfback is excited to lead the boys on and off the field in 2021:
“To be the captain of such a proud club, with a lot of history, is a huge honour. I am proud and extremely grateful to lead this club”.
In his time at the club, he has shown a true knack for creating opportunities and bringing out the best in his teammates, having led the entire competition in Try Assists during 2019.
Scarlett continues his role as an essential part of the club’s 2021 leadership group of senior players; Delouise Hoerter, Aaron Rockley, Max Elliott and Matiu Love-Henry.
Head Coach Brideson said of Scarlett’s leadership capabilities:
“I am really excited and proud to have Sam captain our football club. He is a fantastic young man and a super competitor. I know Sam along with the others in our leadership group will do a good job setting the standards for our playing group”.
Scarlett’s experience within the NRL programs at the Broncos and Panthers will also be invaluable as a leader. Off the field, Scarlett will have the opportunity to support Seagulls teammates in understanding the professionalism and dedication it takes to be an elite athlete and perform at a high level.
