Seagulls Post Big Win Against Cutters

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls headed to Mackay on Saturday to take on the Cutters.

Our Hostplus Cup and Hastings Deering Colts both made the trip as they looked to maintain their positions in the top half of the ladder.

The Colts were up first and stared well to eventually record a 56-6 win.

Hosptlus Cup kicked off at 6pm in front of a decent crowd at BB Print Stadium.

Delouise Hoeter opened the scoring in the 10th minute when he beat his man and dragged two defenders over to score in the corner.

4 minutes later Hoeter was in again after he leapt above his opposite number and came crashing down with a Josh Rogers kick.

Brendan O’Hagan then caught a ricocheted kick to score near the posts, before Josh Simm went over out wide 5 minutes later.

After 27 minutes, the Seagulls led 24-0.

Kalolo Saitaua scored one right on the half time buzzer after a short dropout from the Cutters bounced fortunately for our #14.

After halftime, Josh Rogers was the beneficiary of another good bounce when Deine Mariner kicked through for his five-eighth to score.

Rogers turned provider for Bailey Hartwig 4 minutes later when a short ball put Hartwig through to score.

The Seagulls led 38-0 after 48 minutes.

Ollie Pascoe was next on the score sheet when he dived over from dummy half, before Hoeter grabbed his hattrick with another trademark skip to the outside and crash over the line.

That was the 50 points up the for Gulls after 61 minutes.

Saitaua and Pascoe both brought up their second try in the 66th and 70th minutes to ice a dominant performance on the road.

The final score was 62-0 to the Seagulls.

There was many good performances, however Corey Jensen and Keenan Palasia were very strong returning from the Broncos for the game. While Hoeter, Mariner, Cooper Page Wilson and Darius Farmer were very tough to handle for the Cutters defence. Josh Rogers was named Bartons Player of the Match as he continues his good run of form.

Up next are the Western Clydesdales in Toowoomba on Saturday evening, before we return home against the Redcliffe Dolphins on Sunday 25 June for XXXX Rivalry Round.
