Round 9 at BMD Kougari Oval saw the Cutters travel from Mackay to take on our Seagulls, with both teams needing a win.
The Gulls had two tries in the first 10 minutes thanks to Ben Farr and Delouise Hoeter.
From that point, the Cutters got into the grind and eventually won out, scoring in the 24th minute. They backed it up in quick succession with tries in the 29th and 32nd minutes to hit lead 14-10.
Wynnum made it 3 tries apiece through Josh Berryman in the 37th minute, and with the extra conversio, took a 16-14 lead into halftime.
The Cutters didn’t trouble the scorers in the second half, with Wynnum Manly scoring 18 points to nil to comfortably win the game 34-14.
Second half tries to Luke Gale, Cameron Bukowski and Ron Philitoga cemented the Seagulls position in what was a very dominant 40 minutes.
Luke Gale assumed the goal-kicking duties with Jock Madden injured, and did a great job while also scoring a try and playing 75 minutes in the second row.
A bye weekend awaits the boys in red and green before our annual trip to North Stradbroke Island.
