Welcome Statement from New Seagulls CEO Wayne Weekes

BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls CEO Wayne Weekes has released the following statement to Seagulls sponsors, partners and supporters after his first few days in the new role:

“Hello to all our valuable supporters and sponsors, I would like to pass on my sincere gratitude for the messages of support and positive comments relating to my appointment as the new CEO of BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls. I can honestly say I am very honoured, humbled, and excited to play a part in the future chapters of this great club.

Having a long history in the game and operating in many culturally rich rugby league environments myself, the heritage and passion of Wynnum Manly Seagulls Sponsors and supporters has certainly not been lost in translation, and it’s something I respect and cherish.

I would also like to congratulate Former CEO Hanan Laban, former Hostplus Cup Coach Adam Brideson, and former Academy Manager Michael Dobson for their successful contribution to the Wynnum Manly Seagulls club and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

Our club is currently experiencing a period of change with a new CEO (Wayne Weekes), Hostplus Cup Head Coach (Mathew Head), and Academy Manager (Jon Buchanan). I can assure all our sponsors and supporters that the Seagulls have recruited experienced and professional staff who are passionate in their roles, their club, and driven for future success.

With pre-season training just around the corner, the hard work in preparation is just about to begin for the 2023 rugby league season, and we are certainly excited to get started.

We look forward to getting to know and work with you all in the very near future. If you see me around, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourselves.”
