The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls Hastings Deering Colts have just wrapped up the minor premiership for the second year in a row.
A 28-26 victory at Burleigh on Sunday sealed the title for Wynnum Manly in a hotly contested battle across the season with Townsville for top spot.
Finishing even on points with the Blackhawks, the Seagulls take the minor premiership with a points difference of 426 to the Blackhawks’ 400.
Redcliffe Dolphins and Central QLD Capras round out a very dominant top 4 teams on the Colts ladder.
The Seagulls Colts started the season with 2 losses in a row. The first, away to Townsville in a grand final rematch of the 2021 decider, and the second at home to Redcliffe Dolphins.
The boys then went on to win 14 games in a row after starting 0-2.
Wynnum and Townsville have occupied the top 2 positions on the ladder since Round 10, with the two grand finalists from last season continuing to set the pace in 2022.
Generally playing before the Hostplus Cup team, the Colts have enjoyed successful trips to Hervey Bay, North Stradbroke Island and Iona College with the older boys.
As part of a successful development program led by academy manager and Colts head coach Michael Dobson, there have been numerous Colts make their debut in the Hostplus team this season, such as Max Plath, Grand Hagai, Caius Faatili and Shaun Packer.
BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls would like to thank our academy partner McDonalds Bayside for their valued involvement throughout this season.
Impressive results such as the Colts minor premiership would not be possible without McDonalds’ support of our Academy program, as well as our other valued club sponsors.
We’d like to extend our thanks to all Seagulls supporters and hope that you follow us through an exciting Hastings Deering Colts finals campaign.
Our Colts take on the Central QLD Capras this Sunday at 12:10pm in Rockhampton. Tune into qplus.tv to watch them in action!
