North Stradbroke Island Match This Sunday!

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls are eager to make the trip over to North Stradbroke Island / Minjerribah this Sunday for their Indigenous recognition match.

This event is proudly supported by Deadly Choices, Yulu-Burri-Ba health service and Redland City Council and will be held at the Straddie Sharks rugby league club (Ron Stark Oval, Dunwich).

Deadly Choices Ambassadors will be present, as well as staff to conduct health checks and give out specially-made shirts that replicate the Seagulls playing jersey.

This is the first time the Seagulls have been back to North Stradbroke Island since 2019.

The Hostplus Cup squad will travel over to the island on Saturday afternoon to complete their Captain’s Run session before assisting Seagulls coaches in running a rugby league clinic for local kids.

Following this, the team will hold a private dinner where local Indigenous dignitaries will speak to the players about the importance of this event for the local community and the meaning behind the design of their playing jersey.

The details of Sunday are as follows:
8:20am – local junior games
9am – market stalls and activations
11:20am – Hastings Deering Colts
1:30pm – Traditional Welcome to Country and Dance Ceremony
2:10pm – Hostplus Cup

We would love to see as many people as possible at North Stradbroke Island on Sunday.
