McDonald Seagulls Academy Colts’ Big Day Out

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls Hastings Deering Colts team had a day to remember when they played the curtain-raiser to the Hostplus Cup match in Innisfail last weekend.

The Colts brought up 10 wins in a row to maintain their position at the top of the ladder.

They did it in style too, unbelievably scoring 100 points and conceding zero.

The 100-0 win has sent shockwaves around the competition with rugby league games at this level rarely displaying such a scoreline.

Wynnum Manly scored 18 tries, and winger Jack Bowyer converted 14 of them to bring up the century.

There were 12 individual try-scorers, with doubles to Luke Philp, Carsen Huth, Felix Faatili, Jack Bowyer, and a hattrick to Grand Hagai.

This result is a testament to Head Coach Michael Dobson and his support staff for preparing this Colts side to be premiership contenders once again.

The great support from our proud partner, McDonald’s Bayside, has also had a significant impact on the Seagulls Academy’s ability to produce high-quality players.

Players such as Harrison Graham, Max Plath, Ben Farr and Caius Faatili have all made the move up from Colts to the Hostplus Cup team this season due to their great form.

The Hastings Deering Colts now have two weekends off in a row, with their next game against the Redcliffe Dolphins who currently sit on equal points with the Gulls at the top of the table.
