Seagulls confirm BRL affiliate pathways

The BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls have confirmed that they will establish BRL A-Grade affiliate partnerships with Wynnum Juniors and Beenleigh Pride following recent changes to the In Safe Hands Cup.

The Brisbane competition will expand to 10 teams in 2020 and the Intrust Super Cup clubs will withdraw as direct participants.

Instead the Intrust Super Cup clubs will establish affiliate partnerships with local league clubs which will create more opportunities for players at the local level.

The Seagulls will partner with two strong local clubs in the Wynnum Juniors and Beenleigh Pride.

Wynnum Juniors have done an incredible job over the years in producing future Seagulls players and the new reserve grade model will only provide even more opportunities for talented Baysiders.

Beenleigh Pride have been a powerhouse in the lower grades, securing the minor premiership in the BRL Reserve Grade for the past three seasons and winning the competition in 2018.

Seagulls CEO Hanan Laban believes the new model will be a positive step for the club.

“The new BRL A-Grade model will provide more opportunities and a clearer pathway for local and community players to play Intrust Super Cup.

In addition to pathways for players, it will also be a fantastic pathway for emerging coaches and support staff to be involved in an elite development program.

We are very excited to partner with the Wynnum Juniors and Beenleigh Pride – two clubs who share our values in player development and passion for rugby league.”
