TAFE Queensland and Wynnum Manly Seagulls Join Forces in New Partnership

The Wynnum Manly Seagulls and TAFE Queensland have unveiled an exciting partnership to launch the Wynnum Manly Seagulls TAFE at School Program. This initiative aims to equip senior school players with a comprehensive rugby league coaching and development education while completing their senior secondary education. The program not only prepares aspiring athletes for success on the field but also provides them with a clear pathway to employment in the sports industry.

The course gives students the opportunity to undertake a Certificate II and III in Sport Coaching, focusing specifically on rugby league. The hands-on curriculum will cover a range of topics including but not limited to; essential coaching techniques, game analysis, conditioning for sport, player development strategies, and sports management skills. By combining practical training sessions with theoretical knowledge, the program ensures students receive a well-rounded education that aligns with their sporting ambitions.

What sets the Wynnum Manly Seagulls TAFE at School Program apart is its integration into the weekly academic schedule. Students will attend sessions at the home of the Seagulls in Manly West one day a week throughout the school year, replacing a regular school day. This arrangement allows participants to fully immerse themselves in a professional sporting environment while continuing academic studies at school for the remainder of the week. Students will also undertake regular strength and conditioning, rugby league-specific training, and athlete development workshops as part of the program. Sessions are split into theory and practical hands-on delivery to advance the learning experience.

Successful completion of the program contributes up to 8 Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) credits and can contribute to the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), providing a competitive advantage for further academic pursuits.

The Wynnum Manly Seagulls are a thriving hub of engagement in the Brisbane bayside community, harnessing their reach with a meaningful educational offering will open up more doors for more young people in this region.”

The Wynnum Manly Seagulls TAFE at School Program promises to be a game-changer for aspiring rugby league players in senior high school.
