Vale Adam Maher

The Wynnum Manly Seagulls community offer their sincere condolences to the family and friends of former first grade player Adam Maher who lost his long battle with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) last week.

A tough backrower, Maher spent his youth days at the Seagulls before signing with the Easts Tigers in 1991.

Following the 1993 season with the Tigers, Maher alongside Seagulls juniors Paul Green and Craig Greenhill, departed to sign with the Cronulla Sharks.

Maher played 43 games for the Sharks before heading to the UK, where he played with Gateshead in 1999 and then at Hull FC from 2000-2003.

Maher made over 100 appearances for the ‘black and whites’ and became a crowd favourite.

Maher is survived by his wife Trudy and their five children.

Adam’s funeral will be held today at Wynnum Baptist Church, 287 Kianawah Rd, Wynnum West at 12:30pm.

A wake will follow at Wynnum Manly Juniors, 57 Stradbroke Ave, Wynnum.
