Weekend Wrap

Weekend Wrap presented by George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals

This weekend saw only one Seagulls team in action, with our BMD Premiership team travelling to Rockhampton to take on the Central QLD Capras.

Our Harvey Norman U17 girls team finished up last weekend after a 4 game season. Unfortunately the girls lost each game, but they have enjoyed the season and will be back bigger and better next year.

Our other four teams rested over a bye this weekend.

Meanwhile in Rocky, our girls weathered the storm in the early part on the game as the score remained 0-0 after 20 minutes.

Then 3 tries in 7 minutes, scored by Lilly Green, Julia Robinson and Destiny Mino-Sinapati, saw the Seagulls explode to a 14-0 lead, which they maintained at halftime.

Karina Brown then scored immediately after halftime and the Seagulls led 18-0.

Then the Capras began their comeback, scoring 3 consecutive tries to get within 2 points of the Seagulls, 18-16.

Despite having a player in the sin bin, Wynnum scored again through Destiny Mino-Sinapati, with Brianna Clark converting to extend the lead to 24-22.

The Capras scored a late try to again narrow the gap to 2 points, but our Seagulls held on to win 24-22 in a thrilling game.

Destiny Mino-Sinapati was voted TFH Player of the Match and QLD X-Ray Player’s Player.

All Seagulls teams are back in action this Sunday 24 March in a huge day at BMD Kougari Oval. This is QRL’s Rivalry Round and also Old Gulls Day against the Redcliffe Dolphins.
