Queensland Rugby League is expanding its coverage of the Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup, which kicks off this weekend.
QRL will stream one match every week – that’s nine total across the regular season and finals – on QRL.com.au, the Intrust Super Cup app and the QRL Facebook page.
The Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup games will be part of QRL’s tier two production schedule, which falls within the overall three-tier broadcast project rolling out in 2021.
Tier one includes primarily Intrust Super Cup and BHP Premiership games and tier three covers off community rugby league games.
QRL senior digital manager Mitch Wilson said the stream would be a multi-camera, two-commentator production complete with the QRL’s new exclusive graphics package.
“This helps provide a consistent and high quality experience for fans across all broadcast and streaming products produced,” Wilson said.
“Round 1 will be commentated by Drury Forbes, fresh off calling NRL pre-season matches, and he will be supported by Ian Apps.”
Auswide Bank managing director Martin Barrett said Auswide Bank were “proud to support grassroots rugby league”.
“We are excited to be part of this new initiative of the QRL where communities can now view more games weekly across the state on their preferred viewing platform,” Barrett said.
