BMD Wynnum Manly Seagulls are pleased to confirm that Sam Scarlett has signed with the club, for two years, through to the end of the 2020 season.

Scarlett joins the Seagulls from the Brisbane Broncos, where he has spent the last three seasons, playing 59 Intrust Super Cup matches for Broncos’ affiliate Souths Logan Magpies.

The 24-year-old half from Darren Lockyer’s home town of Wandoan, played NYC at the Penrith Panthers before linking up with the Broncos in 2016.

Scarlett has been one of the leading halves in the Intrust Super Cup and has demonstrated his ability both take the line on himself and create with the football.

The playmaker scored 10 tries and made 13 line breaks, as well as generating 10 try assists and 14 line break assists in 2018.

Seagulls Head Coach Adam Brideson said Scarlett is an important signing for the club.

“Sam is a proven player in the Intrust Super Cup who provides us with a high quality half for next season.

The retirement of Michael Dobson made it important that we recruit a half and we are excited to bring Sam to BMD Kougari Oval.

He is a leader and a competitor, and I look forward to him joining our club.”
